Uber boss: Car Otonomos Not Threaten Profession Driver

San Francisco - Plan presents Uber otonomos car (car without a driver) is fully supported by the CEO, Travis Kalanick. He said, the smart cars is one form of ambition to complete the Uber mode of transportation in the future.

To note, Uber has just announced a partnership with Volvo Car Group and acquires Otto, startup technology are changing the way of transportation. Otto has a mission to change the way of transportation, starting from the truck otonomos (without driver).

Kalanick statement apparently opposed by many people, especially the drivers who have joined with Uber. Because the presence of smart cars will threaten the existence of the drivers and their work. With the car otonomos that take passengers, then they will not be needed again.

To Business Insider, Kallanick dismissed about where the driver will be 'released' granted if the car otonomos Uber really pave.

He said the number of cars otonomos will not equal the total vehicle fleet Uber-controlled human driver.

"The existence of otonomos cars will not disturb the work of the drivers, they (cars otonomos) will remain on the course. So, I think the amount of a human driver will not decrease just because a car otonomos Uber present, "said Kallanick as quoted from Bloomberg, Friday (08/19/2016).

Kallanick even argue, the presence of smart cars will only open up new jobs for the unemployed, such as a car mechanic on otonomos technology.

"We know that can not think in a pattern only, with the presence of otonomos car will certainly open up new kinds of work in addition to the driver," he concluded.

Uber itself known is preparing a joint project with the University of Arizona. Initially, this information was revealed through an e-mail sent to employees of the university.

This new project will generally focus on otonomos technology, and in particular the mapping and optical challenges involved in the development of vehicles that are fully otonomos.

"We will work with some of the world's leading experts in the field of lens design at the university to improve the image of what we perceive and use to build mapping features and safety," Uber said in a statement.
